September Additional Blog
During my previous research check I used this book which is called Psychology Made Simple by Alison Thomas-Cottingham, Ph.D. I found this book extremely helpful because it had things you NEED to know about psychology before actually going into that field. It broke it down into different sections then tested me at the end of each section. This book provided me with other resources that can be helpful. So far my favorite resource.

3) What steps did you take to get this far?
4) Did your childhood have to do with your career choice?

Blog 5: Mentorship & Research Reflection
1. Mentorship question: Describe your experience in how you found your mentorship? If you haven't found one yet, describe your experience so far in the search of a mentor.
My experience to find a mentor was frustrating. At first I wanted to do my senior topic on being a detective. In the beginning of summer I called and emailed about 30 different people and companies that had to do with detectives, only about 10 people got back to me. Seven of those said no to me because there is confidentiality issues with those jobs and I can’t be around those type of things. The others gave me different leads but then their leads all said no or simply didn’t answer me. I knew it was going to be hard to find a mentorship in that career field so then I went on to my second career choice which was psychology. For that it also took me a while because many of them also told me it was a confidential job and they couldn’t have me around. Then I found Tri City Mental Wellness Center and without hesitation they said they’ll have me mentor there. The only thing is that the guy that was going to be my mentor was on vacation and didn’t come back till 1 week and a half before school started and I had to be there every day to finish the 10 hours I needed. So far I am enjoying my mentorship.
2. Research question: What has been your most important article you have read so far?
So far the most important article I’ve read was Psychology 101: an Introduction to Psychology. This article had 10 important facts you should know about psychology if you are trying to go into that career field. It listed 7 other types of psychology, what other careers I can take on by having a psychology degree. It gave me examples of a problem with someone and how a psychologist depending on what psychology they are practicing on a person.
